Vifor Pharma, a world leading Nephrology, Iron Deficiency and Cardio-Renal pharmaceutical company is experiencing rapid growth due to pipeline realization and optimization. As such, a market access manager role has arisen to support launch and sales within hospital products including rare diseases. The ideal candidate will have market access and pricing and reimbursement expertise and understand the complexities and legal frameworks of medicines access in Portugal. 

The ideal candidate will be a specialized market access professional at national level in Portugal, have excellent negotiation skills and be fluent in English.  Prior experience as a Key Account Manager or Hospital Sales Representative is critical for this role. 

Responsibilities
  • Maximizes market access of products
  • Adapts global health economic data to local requirements
  • Manages local health economic data creation
  • Networking with all relevant stakeholders in health care segment

Tasks 
  • Maximizes market access of products
  • Continuously monitors and reports changes in the local market access environment and adapts activities accordingly
  • Develops value-added cost models for the selected products and audience (Society, Payor, Physician, Patient)
  • Conducts market research, individual studies, expert panels to obtain modeling data – in close collaboration with the Brand Managers
  • Develops and implements promotional activities to communicate the value-added product arguments – in close collaboration with the Brand Managers
  • Manages a close personal contact with all major stakeholders (Payors, Government) to optimize market access
  • Develops and monitors product discounting schemes for selected customers (hospitals, buying groups)
  • Trains and supports sales force on market access issues. This includes company presentations eg at Doctor Group Meetings
  • Recruits and manages external vendors

Minimum Requirements
  • Economic and/or scientific academic education
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry, trade bodies or competent authorities
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in field market access for branded products
  • Experience as a sales representative or key account manager
  • Professional level local language, both in oral and written communications
  • Fluency in English, both in oral and written communications
  • Excellent user of MS Office Programs - very strong in Excel

Preferred Requirements
  • (Health) Economic and/or scientific academic education
  • Knowledge in the relevant therapeutic areas
