We are currently looking for an experienced Export and Distribution Manager who will be based at our headquarters in St.Gallen. You will report to the Head of Global Logistics and Distribution and your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Team Management:
  • Lead the Export team with an appropriate focus on compliance, employee satisfaction and development
  • Contribute toward establishing OPEX budgets, CAPEX, and cost estimates for the Logistics and Distribution Team Cost Center
  • Support department heads in establishing the most optimal product supply strategy
  • Active participation in regional operations meetings as well as internal and external partner meetings where applicable
  • Act as change agent to ensure smooth transfer of tasks from strategic project management and other functions into operations

Global Logistics/Distribution:

  • Lead and actively participate in the daily export operation business and overseeing full order-to-cash and shipping cycle
  • Support department head in establishing global logistics/distribution strategies and ensuring its execution within the team
  • Ensuring timely execution, fulfillment of customer orders regional deliveries, documentation, etc. adhering to all relevant international export as well as trade compliance standards and proactively finding solutions to constraints and/or escalating difficulties with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage relationships and operational contacts with freight forwarders and other Vifor Pharma Group entities ensuring service levels across the group are met
  • Supporting execution of GDP framework all relevant processes such as transport qualification standards, temperature monitoring deviation handling on a global scale
  • Monitoring and reporting defined KPIs including supplier performance
Supplier management and other responsibilities:
  • Preparation and active participation in periodic business review meetings (QBR) with defined freight forwarders and LSPs
  • Help prepare and execute RFQs as deemed necessary resulting from business development activities and general strategy reviews
  • Continuous optimisation of existing freight forwarder contracts, terms and conditions, including pricing discussions
  • Evaluate changes and/or reduction of logistic partners used
  • Ensuring all relevant contracts such as SLAs and QAGs are established and maintained
  • Support other Supply Chain Functions and other internal departments with projects by assigning the appropriate resources to the respective projects, rollouts
  • Contribution to or leadership of defined supply chain related projects and process improvement initiatives
The ideal candidate is bringing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Planning, Purchasing or Business Administration in addition to the following experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant Supply Chain function within the pharma industry or similar industry (i.e. medical devices, FMCG) including people management
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, export, materials management or purchasing
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in working with the Planning and Purchasing modules of an ERP system (SAP experience desired)
  • Fluent in English and German (written and verbally), additional language skills are an advantage
  • Experience in leading negotiations with suppliers
  • Experience in budgeting and financial knowledge
  • Very good ability to anticipate planning issues and proactively address them
  • Project management experience is preferred
  • Good people management skills
  • Professional export qualification is an advantage
  • GMP & GxP experience is desired
